Complementary Musings about manuscript "XLI"

In addition to my presentation of manuscript "XLI" and how it was discovered, questions from other scholars have caused me to muse about several related issues:

For example, readers have asked two questions about the handwriting in manuscript "XLI":

  1. Some of Charpentier's G clefs are strange: are they a transitional form?

  2. Is the entire manuscript in his hand?

As far as I can determine, the appropriate answer to both questions is "No." (To see my answer, click the the two links, above.) I have inserted similar links (they are green) into my presentation of the discovery.

From the original report I prepared in 2009 and shared with Carla Williams, I have extracted materials about the broader context into which manuscript "XLI" and am presenting them here a complementary Musings.
