The watermarks of the papers used by Marc-Antoine Charpentier 

To celebrate 2004, which is the Tercentenary of Marc-Antoine Charpentier's death, I am publishing my sketches of the watermarks in the papers he used, and a more detailed listing of the watermarks, notebook after notebook and folio after folio, than was possible in my Vers une Chronologie....

A suggestion:: whenever a notebook proves to have been made of several papers, it is prudent to attempt to re-create the order of the sheets of paper within the folded cahier, in the manner of this sketch, where pages 67/68 and 86/87 are the same sheet of paper:

This presentation of the watermarks is subdivided into three parts: the watermarks in the so-called "cahiers françois,"  the watermarks in the "cahiers romains," and my sketches of these watermarks:
